9. The Pins In My Heart
On the way home, Panda came across an old sculpture which had been abandoned many years ago. She didn't know how, but there were sharp branches stuck inside it from all directions. It was a habit of hers to pull out a few twigs each time she walked by. Panda had nicknamed the sculpture Kokoro, which meant "heart." It made her sad to think of how painfully it must have stood in the forest, alone all this time. She enjoyed the hardwork of removing the branches because her mind was free from her own problems for a little while.
Do you do that sometimes? Do you try and make yourself too busy to think, too busy to dream? Sometimes when you have free time to look around, your eyes may fall upon a memory and then before you know it, your heart starts hurting again.
Dino watched Panda working hard and scurried across the bridge to see if he could help out. Dino's movements were so clumsy, Panda had to laugh when she looked up at him. "She smiled!" he thought and something hi his chest started leaping around.
"Let me help, Panda," he smiled.
"Ok," she replied. In that moment, she forgot about all those complicated feelings and was just happy to be standing beside Dino.
